see.me Story of the Creative Exhibition

See.Me Story of the Creative – I actually saw my art displayed for 14 seconds, and I conciser myself one of the fortunate ones to have seen it at all. The location was great, the event was fun, as an art show it was disorganized, unprofessional, and of no value in promoting the work…

This experience was shared by a few hundred artists, and the following day the president of see.me sent out this apology email:

Dear T. Michael,

First, I want to thank you for joining us last night for The Story of the Creative reception hosted at the Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts. The energy and enthusiasm for this special show was incredible and the turnout took us by surprise.

If you were one of the many who had long delays getting into the space and receiving your thank you package, or if you had trouble seeing your work displayed, please accept my sincere apology. There’s a lot we could have done better to make the night run more smoothly.

For one thing, we made the mistake of allowing too many non-artist guests to participate in the event. We had hoped to be able to accommodate all of the artists and any guests who arrived with them, but we grossly underestimated the amount of guests who would be joining the festivities. If you had to wait in line for an excessive amount of time or were caught in any confusion around the event, I’m truly sorry.

The fact is, we are not a large corporation with unlimited budgets and logistics. We are a small team of artists and creatives working to build new ways of showing art of all types from people around the world. There are twelve of us in total working to host these large shows as well as building and maintaining the website and running all the accompanying projects. Unfortunately, last night’s event became larger than we were able to smoothly handle.

Last night was a big learning experience for our small team. In the future we will work to curate a smaller crowd, with clearer organization and partner with a space that is prepared for all the logistics necessary to make the event run efficiently (preferably without angry security guards).

We are installing the gallery exhibition for The Story of the Creative now and it will run at our exhibition space from Monday, July 29th through Tuesday, September 10th.

We’re typically at the gallery Monday-Friday, but we’ll be adding an extra day to the work week tomorrow, Saturday, July 27th to setup the exhibition. If you were unable to see your work last night for any reason, please stop by to see your work on the walls of the exhibition space. You deserve it.

We will be setting up from 11am to 5pm this Saturday, July 27th.
